I figured with the time difference the game wouldn't start on the west coast for another hour or so. No dice...

No, it started at 11:18 a.m. before noon. Don't worry. Keep your eye out for a replay sometime soon. All the stars were out and it was too good a game to put in the vault and not show again. I will tell you that the Barca defenders shut down the vaunted Rooney and Ronaldo.

Messi and Eto'os goals were beautiful and, except for the first ten minutes, the Barca midfield simply had its way with Man U. The expression on Sir Alex 's face after the game had me cringing.

So cool to see Messi get his first goal against an English club in this one...

Ryan Giggs actually played like his age for the first time this year... Michael Carrick must have put lead in his shoes... And Anderson... Wow, never have I seen a player look so lost... Losing Darren Fletcher was absolutely huge in the midfield battle. But that said, Ferdinand and Vidic looked almost as statuesque as Berbatov... (Haha NOT a compliment...) Sigh... Sir Alex said it right, the better team won today.

And Sir Alex couldn't have been more correct!
Man U played their 67th game of the season last night and with the exception of the first half of the Tottingham game it was the worst man U performance of the season!
That said, Barca had a LOT to do with M.U.'s performance..They were sharp and active. Great team to watch!

Is anyone else completely stoked to not have to listen to Tommy Smyth anymore on any CL matches??

I mean the guy literally spent at least half an hour talking about a new ball affecting the keepers play... Funny part, that ball wasn't even new, it's been in use for all champions league competitions, the MLS and other leagues around the world since Euro 08...

Oh yes, I was watching downtown at the Bullpen, and there were 4 guys next to me. There were like 5 or 6 times Tommy said something just totally absurd and we all busted up laughing.

Also: We may not have had a huge crowd there watching, but these guys were all intelligent, savvy fans (as in, they knew the players on both teams, not just Ronaldo and Rooney).

Yeah... It seems a lot of people fall outside of that category... Haha aka Man U "supporters" that are the same types of people that would wear a Green or Pink Red Sox fans or Barca "supporters" that would think Camp Nou was a place for Cub Scout retreats...

The new discovery for me was Iniesta who assisted on the Eto'o goal. After the match Wayne Rooney called him the best player in the world. That's high praise coming from a guy with Rooney's temperament.

leave beckham out of it. for being over thirty and supposedly washed up...i'd say he's doing pretty well. he's done more for MLS already, despite everything, than any other single person has. he has definitely helped the games popularity in america grow, making another team in say...Portland...possible.

I have a realy pet peave for clothing not in traditional team colors. I hate the Yankees, but, seeing a fan wearing a pink Yankees cap makes me feel even more nausea. I'm so stoked to get tx to see Barcelona at Quest...no matter who plays.
