Thanks for the heads up; I saw the dock sale, too... I think it was $14, minimum 4 cases. A deal, for sure... I may have to swing by on my way to campus on Friday. I dont know how long Okto will be available...

OK so most of you probably know this already, but the Brrr is back!

This really is a VERY delicious red. Really smooth, and when you look at the label you will be surprised when read it is 7.2% because it does not taste like a beer on that ABV level. A fine way to warm up during the winter months!

I'll bet you could get someone to smuggle some up to you this weekend. Can you fit a 12 pack in your luggage?

Is that a picture of the one you are mailing out this way, or the one you are keeping for yourself?

Bud (Beer) with a Komakaze or Jack Daniels backing it up, I am not one for the strong beer but I did buy Basketballhead a big,big mug that he could'nt finish. It was in that local downtown/Pub in Portland (name escapes me, the one we saw coach Joel at after Pepperdine game).
I knew it was pretty strong if Basketballhead couldn't down it all. He will be ready to drink with you all with his UFC MMA buddy like last year. I smell a rear naked choke for Basketballhead from his UFC buddy by the end of tourney, lol
PS-Basketballhead said Micky McConnell from St Marys will be a major heckling target
this year being that Kramer,Mickey, and Basketballhead are all Mesa boys.

Deshutes Jubel 2010
OK, bear with me. I had this stuff today and it's pretty good - (I think).

The deal is, I'm not sure it's beer.
The Deschutes brewery has a whole thing about it, but as the local distributor explained to me, it started out as a mistake.
10.5% it's a dark beer, somewhat reminiscent of their Jubelale, but it's apparently been frozen and thawed, put in Pinot barrels, and aged. It tastes a little like a Barley wine.
2010 description
They call it their "once a decade beer" last brewed in 2000.
Try it - you might like it.
I will probably stick with my Pliny.

Location: Lowry the tailor lived there when boys were boys. In his day he was fond of the gun. He always carried his powder loose in the tail pocket of his coat. He usually had in his mouth a short dudeen; but in an evil moment he put the dudeen, lighted, in the pocket among the powder. Mr. Lowry was an eccentric man.

Was at Widmer last night and sampled a pint... Pretty delicious, and haha it backed a punch at 8.6% Definitely has that strong imperial hoppy flavor but has a "wheatier/granier" finish than Pliny (thats the only way I can describe it). Pretty damn tasty but I might have to give Hop Czar and Pliny the upper hand personally.
OH I also tried the Widmer W'10 Pitch Black IPA off tap last weekend...
I really liked it because you get the hoppiness of an IPA and still some sweet malty flavors you might find in a porter/stout. And I was really surprised just how smooth it was. I'm sad it's a seasonal, I would definitely order it regularly!

Pitch black IPA? Sounds like a misnomer to me... Is there anything really pale about it???

Color wise no, but the first thing you get taste wise is the hoppy explosion that comes with an IPA.
