Posting Problem
On occasion, I have written a post, hit send, and gotten a message "no post mode specified" and the post disappears. Pretty frustrating after crafting a long and brilliant exposition. Is this problem caused from my end, or is it a PN problem? I fear it may be something to do with my computer, but other posts work fine, so I don't know where to look for solutions.

Re: Posting Problem
I have never seen or heard of that message... Hmmm. I will try to look on the Forumotion help forums, and see if there is any mention.

Re: Posting Problem
You know what would have been funny? If you had gotten that message while trying to write this post.
One suggestion, if you are worried about losing a post, you can just highlight and "copy." Then you can just paste when you go back to repost.

Re: Posting Problem
(I do that a lot, especially with longer posts in case something flubs...)

Re: Posting Problem
Actually, the same thing has happened to me. Sometimes it's while I'm composing a brilliant and convoluted piece on some critical subject over the course of an hour or more.
I think what's happening is that when you start composing, your editing is time limited if you don't press send (or preview). I think Forumotion just assumes you closed your window and went away.
Then when you finally do send something, Forumotion has forgotten you were editing.
Looking back, it's saved people from reading a lot of nonsense.

A similar problem happens occasionally with my Comcast email, and I now sometimes copy the text before sending just in case. What a pain in the a$$.

Re: Posting Problem
Indeed it is, but I'm about 90% sure there is some sort of "time out" default setting with the forum servers so we have to jump through that hoop continually... Well unless we had our own server/hosting agent but I'm not going to suggest we cut into the Geez's Pliny/flat screen/fur lined seating budget....

Re: Posting Problem
I know a lot of email systems time out after 15 minutes. I had a similar problem in Rome last semester (an issue with their internet) and I got in the habit of copying a post before I hit send.
