Tonight vs. Pacific

First postseason game in a loooong time. I wish it was available to the masses. As far as I know Stonehouse and DTR are the only Pilotnation members attending. Who says they are the same person. I am expecting a full report from them. I saw on portlandpilots.com that there is live video, but it looks like it is the stretchnet stuff that Mesa loathes. This tourney is going to be good experience for the guys heading into next year.

And every guy is heading into next year....yes...

I'll give a teaser for my game report... the unintentional comedy scale of the game was highlighted by the Pacific band/cheering section (yes one in the same... PPT you're slacking) spent 35 of the 40 game minutes chanting "Hungry Tigers".... More to come later, it was kind of a rough loss...

A few game thoughts (after 20+ hours in the car over the last 3 days):
It really was a game of too halves... It's been stated before but we got ROCKED inside the second half, a lot of baby hooks and circus shot lay ins that just swished right through. Again I dont' know if it was a lack of interior defense, a timidity because of foul trouble, or the posts just getting hot, but it was just a little difficult to watch. The 2nd half started with us getting 4 PF and a T in the first minute... It kind of killed any momentum we could have gotten and kind of set the tone for the second half. Another note, i think with around 5-6 minutes Nik (aka the only player we had going offensively) hit a 3 and was fouled. He came down hard on his elbow and was hurt, after missing the FT he was subbed out for what seemed like an eternity. When he went back in he kept attacking, but his FT definitely seemed affected and whenever play was stopped he held/rubbed his elbow, so I would assume that his entire game was off a bit (but hats off, he definitley kept giving his all) TJ was just off all night, the 2nd half was just a cascade of shots that looked good off their hands but just rimmed out...not the rolls we've been used to all season (Haha when Jared Stohl rimmed out a 3, Dons Central just shook his head and said "OK... NOW he misses, where was that against us??" Tee hee) All in all we were just off that second half, nobody could get anything going inside and the outside shots (which we were able to get) just weren't falling. On top of that they played some pretty tight D on both Jared and TJ, really limiting what they could do. At the end of the game it was sad to lose, but honestly good effort and great season, I can't wait for next year...

A few off topic notes:
~ I have to give HUGE ups to the Waterford family all there in mass supporting their boy for not only their support but also their attire... No but seriously, that entire family looked like they just came off the pages of GQ and Vogue... I mean I was lookin pretty fly in my Coky jersey, but uh, I gotta give credit where credit is due, I could learn a thing or two from them.
~ ALSO big ups to the Knutson family making the trek out from Phoenix... and not get TOO annoyed by Stonehouse and I sitting next to them.
~ It was kind of a cool arena, good feel there, but uh... the arena announcer was something else, it seemed like he was trying a bit too hard to add excitement to the game drawing out players names (not to mention mispronouncing Nik Ra-VEE-OH... Eric Reh- VEHN-oh, Kramer Kuh-NUT-sen, it drove us up the wall) haha and they even added tiger growling and other sound effects that were, shall we say... cheesy at best...
~ The student turnout was pretty non existent there... Like I said earlier, the Band literally doubled as the cheering section, good band, but as the cheering "Hungry Tigers" the whole game and other generic B-Ball cheers... it was a bit odd...
~ It was nice to be in sunny 70 degree weather, if for only a little while... I even rocked the sandals yesterday... I RULE!!
~ Shaking Larry Williams' Hand makes me feel very small and dainty...
~ A big thank you to Jason Brough for putting us on the "friends of the team" list with tickets behind the UP bench... It was like I got to walk in Pilot Nut's season ticket shoes, and let me tell you, those are some damn comfy shoes...

All in all a good time and a solid road trip... BTW did you know Sacramento was "The City of Trees"?? And Corning is "The Olive City"?? Oh and also... BevMo carries Steigl... YAY!!!

I wonder if it was the PSU arena announcer doing that game, too?!

The only problem with my seats now is that it is a long flight of stairs up to the Pilot Club at halftime... But that makes the beer that much better... (Geezer, how is the progress coming on the escalator to the PC?)

What, no pneumatic tube to shoot you straight to the front of the line for the beer? Better talk to the engineering dept to design something for you!

Haha I think that shade is a bit on the blue side... and don't get me wrong, I love the Vegas method... But you don't have to tip a pneumatic tube
