Pilots are officially in the WNIT

The bracket is not out yet, but the WNIT official site (womensnit.com) has a list of the automatic qualifiers and the Pilots are on it, along with Portland State and Oregon State. The first round is scheduled for March 18-20.

This one is a no brainer. the first round will be at the Chiles center or at PSU

My thoughts exactly. Either I have one more gig this year, or an easy road trip.

BTW, the NCAA bracket has been out for a couple hours. Gonzaga was the only WCC team (obviously), is a 12 seed and plays 5 seed Xavier on Saturday in Seattle at Hec Ed (sorry, Bank of America Arena AT Hec Ed).

It should be a good game. PSU beat the Pilots handily early in the year before the Pilots had jelled into the competitive squad they were at the end of the season. Winner to play OSU in Corvallis on Saturday.

I got word the band will be going Thursday. But I won't since I've already got a ticket to the games at the Rose Garden. Guess the Pilots will just have to win so I can see them in Corvallis Saturday.

I went over for tickets around Noon at PSU. the reserved seat backs were nearly gone. ($12) There appear to be plenty of General Admission seats left.

I called PSU this morning and got tickets.

One player to watch for PSU is their point guard Claire Faucher. PSU touts Kelsey Kahle because she is the leading scorer and rebounder, but she wouldn't be the leading scorer without the passes from Faucher. Faucher led Division 1 in assists per game last season - something PSU failed to publicize to their advantage in my opinion. She is currently number 4 in Division 1 in assists per game. Her passes can be pretty spectacular.

Who's coming tonight? I'll be providing the musical stylings of cowbell.

So how big was the band? Hopefully that will show PSU they should find a way to put together a basketball band.
