Pilots vs Gonzaga. 7:00 PM. Merlo. be there.

The kickoff to the conference season for the men.

Man! it's been a while since we've seen these guys play at home!

I wonder if I'm even going to recognize some of the new guys. They gotta schedule more home games.

If you weren't there, you missed a pretty good game.

UP played 21st ranked Gonzaga to a draw. Gonzaga is ranked 21st, and has beaten ranked teams U-dub and Santa Barbara

The Zags scored at about 6 minutes - a breakdown in the defense allowed a Gonzaga player to get behind them just outside the 6 yd box for a score.

UP scored on a set piece with 6 minutes left. Michael Gavin scored on a set piece shot on frame that was mishandled by the Gonzaga keeper

Shots were even at 18, UP held a slight edge on corners, and totally dominated the yellow card category 3-1. Some were earned, some weren't, and Gonzaga got away with a few.

I don't say this often, but for the most part, the ref was pretty good.

Especially good efforts by Warner, Wright (boy that guy is fast), and Oakes did a nice job at attacking mid when Warner had to sit with cramps for a while.

In their time on the road, this team actually learned how to pass. I think they'll do fine in the conference if they stay with this style of play.

They also won the midfield for large segments of the game, and were generally looking stronger at the end of overtime.

Long ball was there, but it was done just often enough to keep the defense honest. That also made it work a bit.

Now we just have to punch it home a few more times.

Good job Pilots!

What was up with the live podcast? Could not get anything but the live updates, LIVE? It becomes about as exciting as watching paint dry. Better then nothing I guess. Well go Pilots!
