Re: basketball tonight
See vlad, that's where Zag fans always get confused.
Rev was being nice to a Spokane staff writer (same as a Zag staff writer.)
Rather than tell the poor guy Bouldin is a poor second to Bryant's individual results this year, he tells the guy what he wants to hear and says that Bouldin is the obvious choice.
He didn't say he was the right choice. That came out in the vote....
And Musselman was wrong a pretty big chunk of the All Conference team, so I wouldn't bring him up as an expert on the WCC.

Re: basketball tonight
Because a columnist from Spokane is going to have a completely objective opinion of the WCC awards . . . on February 18, no less. I'm further amused that someone - anyone - found Eric Musselman's thoughts useful.
(Shakes head)
Here's an interesting opinion about Few's coaching that rates him right up there with Krzyzewski (though not in the way Zag fans would hope, I think):

As long as we are quoting WCC coaches in the Zag Rag, here's some more of Meehan's work.
They got the recognition they deserve.
Case closed.

Re: basketball tonight
After reading the entirety of Meehan's article, I thought he said MORE about Bryant than Bouldin...
"“Santa Clara could put itself toward the top (of the standings) and you’d have to consider John based on is numbers,” Reveno said. “But it makes sense that it goes to a team at the top of the conference.”"
AND
"“If you look at defensive rebounds and blocked shots, you have to look at John,” Reveno said. “And you have to consider Diamon, too.”"

Re: basketball tonight
For me, the date of the article says it all... Feb 18, which was not long after Bouldin really torched the Pilots and was playing super well. At that point in time, I agree that Bouldin was probably deserving of the POY award. But for the rest of the WCC season (at least 4-5 games from that date), Heytvelt was the one that was playing best, Bouldin was just so-so, Daye fell off the map, and Bryant was throwing down 20-20s and got Santa Clara into 4th place. So... yeah. I think if any of the Zag players would have been a bit more dominant/consistent they would have won the award. I mean, look at last year - Pargo got it over Bryant. But this year's Zag team was so balanced that it was difficult to say who was the most valuable on the team, let alone the best player in the conference. And when you've got a guy in John Bryant who leads the nation in rebounding and is dropping 20 points a game and leading the conference in blocked shots and field goal percentage and who probably deserved to win the award last year? It's not surprising at all that Bryant got it, and I for one think he well deserved it.

MORE DRIBBLE, MORE ,MORE,MORE......
A guy lead's the nation in Rebounding and yet Zaggetes don't think he deserve's and award for his 20 and 20's. What kind of idiot thinks that him playing with 3 freshman (some talented , others?) make's a 4th place finish a "bad season" is a
. Absoulutely no objectivy and sour grapes.
I'm waiting for when it's declared Heidifelty can dominate Blake Griffin .Pargo anybody. Or Bouldin can dominate Jame's Hardin. We all saw what happened in AZ,faced with a little adversity,no home court, Pac'ten team the Zaggete's folded their tent's when it got tough going with pew getting outcoached severly by a "temporary" coach. They want to play the Huskie's,ha,ha good joke. Maybe if they start beating the other Pac'Ten teams that are behind them in the conference standing's,ha,ha.
Prediction-Loss in 2nd round of NCAA's
(Bringing our RPI down) ,that's if their private plane doesn't make a permenant stop in Spokane after the first round.
I predict a Creepy Adam Morrison year, we ought to start a poll, who's gonna cry
this year after they lose in the NCAA's
Pargo
Heidifelty Down's (my bet, troubled kid with a odd background...transfer,family issue's,etc==always seems manic or bummed after play=sketchy stability during game.
Daye-obvious odd's on favorite
Bouldin-about the only one who seem's cogent and stable beside's Pargo (I honestly feel bad for Pargo this year
he just lost a couple of million's dollar's by listening to the wrong people,,,one of which was Peeyew...etc.
They should just shut their Piehole's early in the NCAA's so they can finally get back to playing well. With that kinda talent, Im perplexed
,that pew is a really awful coach or an underachiever when you look at the talent etc he's had over the years. Maybe the'll get Monson back, then ?
PS- Anybody remember Bouldin's UNBEATEN season prediction this yr. Maybe he just mean't in conference play
. I bet pew tell's him to keep his yapper shut during NCAA press conference's.

Re: basketball tonight
Mesa...way to keep it classy. Ya the zag fans feel like their player(s) deserved POY, as does saint mary's feel their player(s) had a chance, and the pilot fans have a legit argument that Nic could have won. If you have recently read the gonzaga board, there is a huge post congratulating Big John on his accomplishments. John deserved the award, he had a great year and well deserved to be Player of the Year. What I don't understand is your hatred for the zags and lack of respect towards a team that beat you twice. We completely respect the pilots, you have a great team, a great chance in the tourney, and we'll be a force next year, your team's rise is great for the WCC. You discuss how the zags losses were due to poor coaching and other factors, whats your point? Who cares, are you jealous with the zags success? I will gladly discuss the zag losses compared with the pilot losses any day of the week.
To all the other pilot fans...we want to congratulate you on a great regular season and looking forward to a great conference tourney...you guys have one helluva team this year and for the most part are a total class act. Good luck in the tourney this coming weekend and we hope to see you monday night.

There are so many things in that post that I could comment on, but I'll choose just one:
What I don't understand is your hatred for the zags and lack of respect towards a team that beat you twice.
Really? I mean, really?

Re: basketball tonight
Thanks,
Glad to see you and Angela our reading Pilot Nation. Sorry to hurt your feeling's. Sometime's I hurt people's feeling's,but it doesn't Seem like All the Zag fan's who live in Portland or the State of Washington or Oregon get their feeling's hurt. You'll feel better just have a microbeer that Portland has to offer. Most Zag fan's don't get upset here on PN because they know most of it is in good fun.'
Why don't you head on over to the Don's board or down south to Lion Nation they may not have a good welcome to you either. I doubt you'll be able to run your keyboard to far when you match Crybaby in the same Planet of Hank or Bill Russell. JMO though.
NOW, get back to the Zaggete board and "Homer" my favorite WCC Player of All time (yes ahead of Hank) Batista for me. My observation's about Daye and Down's our just personal opinion's, not fact like a personal friend of their's,like yourself.
Love,
Monster Pilot1
aka MesaPilot1
P.S. -Are not Down's life problems a known fact in Spokane? I've only been following since his Junior year in H.S. amd his "mysterious" transfer from the University of Kansas. I haven't examined his innerchild with him but I'll leave that to John Bradshaw.

At the end of my last post, I was going to throw in a "MesaPilot smackdown countdown," but I decided not to. For those of you keeping score, it took Mesa two hours and eighteen minutes to handle zagsfan5.
I love this board.

Re: basketball tonight
Mesa, I don't think you're really THAT sorry!
Many Gonzaga fans are not aware there was a WCC before Gonzaga's recent run, or that there have been great players who played before they were born. Or that these players were not Gonzaga Bulldogs.
This leads to confusion and frustration when these Zag fans post on message boards about the greatness of Super Stache Morrison and others ask what types of chemicals they are under the influence of.
I had not heard of that unbeaten prediction, but the shills on tWWL (that's ESPN) were doing plenty of that on GU's behalf.
There is a method to Mesa's madness: Coach Spew has loads of talent on his team, so what happened in those losses? Perhaps all the stars forgot it was a team game. There also are advantages to going back to their old coach: think of what they could do once dude got his (alleged) slush fund up and running again.
(Whoops! Lots of Zag fans probably didn't know about that either! Search engines are your friends, fellas!)
PS--I don't really care which one of them cries, so long as (1) they do it AFTER the game, and (2) it make the "One Shining Moment" video.
