Well other than how we played, tonight could not have gone better for us. First we win and then Santa Clara and San Diego, two teams that were in the discussion for second, lost to the two cupcakes on the schedule. Then St. Mary's keeps it close which helps us out, because it gives our win over them a little bit more validity, but they end up losing which is even better. Hopefully the team can get it together for saturday, you know the gaels are going to show up.

Agreed, PP13... the only way tonight really could have gone better is if SMC had lost in 4 overtimes....! Rolling Eyes

Unbelievable ending to that SMC game. Tough no-call on the wild banked-in three, and then they cough it up on the inbounds play. (Though interesting to note... Daye was warned in the UP game as well for hunching over the inbounder... he's going to get a technical at some point for doing that.)

But overall, yes... this was the perfect night for UP. Here are the updated WCC standings:

Gonzaga9-0
Portland7-2
Saint Mary's6-4
San Diego5-5
Santa Clara5-5
Pepperdine4-5
LMU1-8
San Francisco1-9

In good conscience, I can never root for the Zags. Ever. Tonight though, I'm not quite as disappointed as I usually am. Definitely a tough no-call though. That was one heck of a shot.

I really, really like those standings, but we need to beat SMC and take care of business on Saturday. Let's go PILOTS!

Oh I was definitely pulling for the Gaels, but now that it's over and I'm not emotionally invested in the result, I can objectively see it as good for the Pilots.

With 5 games to go we've got a two game lead on SMC and 3 game leads on SCU and USD.

Just to look ahead... Saint Mary's has four WCC games left: Portland on Saturday, San Diego at home the following week, then at LMU and Pepperdine. So overall, a pretty light schedule.

We've got five: at SMC, LMU and Pep at home, then at Santa Clara and at San Diego.

So our slate is a lot tougher... making Saturday's game HUGE.

Wow, sure didn't take long for my little scenario of everyone beating LMU and Pepperdine get blown out of the water! Embarassed

I thought SCU was getting hot, but Pepperdine did well.

If the Pilots can manage to sneak out of Moraga with an upset, that gives them a three game cushion with four to play for second. Amazing! Let's go, Pilots!

By the way, can we get a shout out for IronLions and the LMU crowd. Great win tonight over "GU South"!

Congratulations Lions!

Agreed, a great win for LMU!

Pepp also beat SCU... and it looks like SCU's Rahon went down with a shoulder injury; lets hope he heals quickly... they need his offense...

Absolutely... big congrats to LMU!!! It's been a tough year for them and it's got to feel good to have a nice positive to hang their hat on. Definitely happy for them!

And Washington keeps winning to help our RPI. Although they did beat OSU, which may actually hurt their RPI...oh, nevermind.
