Hmmm, I was thinking a drunken sailor who could inappropriately grab people in the crowd.... oh wait, we already had that...

Emphasis on the "drunken" part one of my student years...

But at least he stayed upright. At almost every game.

Be careful with this, we don't want to duplicate the Roboduck fiasco. I favor reimaging Wally, maybe with a smaller head and a less crusty raincoat.

What would Robopilot even look like? I'm mildly curious.

Ughh! As a Duck hater, even the idea of a Robopilot makes me hurl.

Man, this is a tough task. Can you imagine trying to come up with a perfect mascot in the age of political correctness? The drunken sailor looks like an irresponsible dude ready to sail in and hit on your daughter. The pilot with a pipe might by a closet tobacco lobbyist for all that we know. And is the sailor with the parrot on his shoulder feeding the pet or is it a natural bird found on the untamed seas?

So, all that we're left with is a pristine happy goofball...a mama's boy of the sea too tame to scare any kids or cause any harm. As much as I hate the Oakland Raiders since they seem to be the gangster fashion team of pro football, on the flipside the idea of a pristine mama's boy is kind of lame Exclamation

The Stanford tree... now there's an inspiring mascot. I never understood what that had to do with Stanford.

My bro went to Stanford so I guess I should come to the Tree's defense... it comes from the seal of the school:

And since their knickname is after a color (Cardinal=the shade of red, not the bird)... well, there's not much to go on with that in terms of mascot ideas. Well, other than Western Kentucky's Red Monster thing. Smile

It's a Junior university?

Maybe someday they'll make it to full University Status.

I think that the Phoenix Suns Gorilla is retired. Maybe we can be the Portland Gorilla Pilots. Or even better, the Guerrila Pilots.

I'm not into the whole thing where schools decide on multiple ideas or mascotts...like the tree and the Cardinal for Stanford or the bulldog and the Zag (which is nothing but 3 letters for St. Aloysious Gonzaga...lame). I'd rather just keep it simple. The Portland Pilots is fine with me.
