The BIG Question...

Post by PilotDrummer on Sat Jan 31, 2009 11:18 pm

I don't have any qualms about being "that guy" (hello? purple wig in the band over here!), so I'll just ask the question: After tonight's showing by the Pilots, can we beat the Zags on our home court?

I think this is the best team we've had in...gosh, I don't know. We haven't beaten GU since my freshman year (2002-2003), and I know we have yet to beat them at home in the 7 years I've been around the bluff. I say yes, yes we can.

Last time we beat them at home was 1995-96: the tourney year. They've beaten us 12 straight times at the Chiles Center.

I think that it's time to end that streak, don't you?

Yeah, nice wig tonight. Angling for TV time again?

I don't know who this team can't beat, at least at home. Between the tough defense and 60+% shooting beyond the arc, they are very formidable. GU is a challenge of the highest magnitude, so for the third game in a row, this next one is HUGE!

It's been time for 12 years. To say that I'm sick of the traveling Kennel Club chanting "This is our house" is a massive, massive understatement. Mad

Let's make this happen, boys.

Yeah. Let me know how I did, 'k? Very Happy

I agree with you guys - I don't know if there's a team we can't beat when we play at home. And boy am I tired of the traveling pound puppies above the band. For once I want to watch them all leave early, orderly, and quietly.

Speaking of big Pilot games, I was there for the last home win against Gonzaga, too! I was a freshman in high school.

Never would have thought I would be five years out of UP and still waiting for another win.

Drummer actually did get the camera on him before the game. geek

There's only one here, and Mesa pwned him pretty good. I wouldn't worry too much.

Honestly, we have to be rolling on all cylinders to beat that team. We can beat them, however, I'd rather relish the role of the underdog before we do it. It will be a great match-up, and I believe it's on ESPN2...so even people out of state (like me) can watch. Yeah!

Two of the difference makers of the game IMO will be Raivio and Austin Day. I don't think they have an answer for Raivio, and I don't think we have an answer for Day's length on the defensive side and ability to get his shot off offensively... Win or lose, people will get to see the Pilots on Sportscenter since we're playing GU. It will be good exposure for Rev's program.

You have to watch the very beginning intro to the game--the first images from inside the arena... way to be cool, business as usual, Drummer... Cool

Really? Ahahahaha. I'll have to set my TV to record the UP-GU game Thursday so I can try to find myself.
