I can't say for sure because I have never seen any of the actual paperwork. So your word is better than my guess. BTW what does KFTC represent? That is a determined little girl holding that sign.

KFTC wrote:AP, I don't think those are enforceable under NCAA/University bylaws (I need a Geezaldinho ruling) because athletic scholarships can't be conditionally based (only on merit of performance). But some coaches create them on a program-by-program basis, similar to an honor code. The Portland program has had an unwritten rule about refraining from those things, but that never really stopped anyone from going boarding, surfing or skiing or anything else that could tear an ACL, break an ankle or cause other serious injuries.

It certainly isn't enforceable under the national letter of intent program. That's a standard form that is the same for all student athletes. There is no provision for any activity restrictions under that program. You can read the provisions of the National letter of intent at national-letter.org

KFTC?- Why, Kentuckians For The Commonwealth - What else?

As I said, it's from what I know and have heard about several programs, it is usually an honor system type of deal to refrain from activities that might cause injury and limit an athlete's participation.

As far as KFTC pertains to my avatar, it stands for Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, and that little girl is holding a sign for a conference of some sort; that picture was given to me to use for my avatar because of that sign. KFTC can also mean Korea Fair Trade Commission, among other things. Neither of those acronyms fit my meaning, though.

I was out kicking the ball around today and it really reminded me of the difficulty of merely kicking a ball straight. Next time I think of being critical, I hope I am reminded of my own feeble attempts.

Re: Signing period...

Post by fozziewozzie on Sat Jan 03, 2009 10:39 pm

sorry i haven't been on this board in awhile, but it was myself who talked to elizabeth eddy's mother during her visitation here an geez i.d. her for me on what little info i was able to gather from her mother.

someone mentioned whether her academics where up to snuff for u of p. answer is, according to her mom is, yes. eddy is extremely hard on herself if she doesn't get anything but an 'a' in her classes, regardless of her time away with national team commitments.

mom was blown away that in a hard driving rain there was almost 4,000 fans out cheering our girls. previously she couldn't understand why her daughter want'd to come up to u of p for a visitation.

second, the only player she an her daughter knew on the u of p team was charney burke. charney told them that every time she ever went away for camps or national team commitments she got home-sick every time. charney told the eddy's she had not been home sick one time since she arrived at u of p!!! how awesome is that?

so everyone, cross your fingers and toes crossed. according to geez, she is a top flight prospect!!
