Live Webcast of Friday's match
From the Stanford Web site:
Let's hope that "webcast" means video and not just audio, since Comcast SN will be busy with basketball that night.
STANFORD, Calif. - The 2008 NCAA DI Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal match between Stanford and Portland will be played Friday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Cardinal's Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
Fans should be advised to purchase tickets in advance to avoid waiting in long lines on game day. Tickets can be purchased from 9 p.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at the Stanford Athletics Ticket Office (located at Gate 2 on the south end of Stanford Stadium), at the soccer box office on game day, online, or by calling 1-800-STANFORD. The Ticket Office will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
All seats are general admission and the first 1,500 fans to arrive will have access to seating, while any late arriving fans will be directed to standing room only. Be advised that purchasing a ticket in advance guarantees you admittance to the facility but does not guarantee you a seat. Prices are $8 for adults, and $5 for students, youth, and seniors.
Any fans that are unable to attend the match can follow all the action online through CBS College Sports GameTracker live stats or via a live webcast. The links for both the live stats and webcast will be available later this week on the Stanford women's soccer online schedule. [Emphasis added.]
Let's hope that "webcast" means video and not just audio, since Comcast SN will be busy with basketball that night.

That's great news! Either audio or video is infinitely better than Game Tracker.

I watched the Stanford Rutgers game vie the webcast and it wasn't half bad... even had multiple camera angles.

The Pilots' site links to live audio for Friday's match. Does anyone know if that is a Portland broadcast or will link to Stanford's?

For those of us cheapskates....the Stanford-Rutgers video was offered for free. This may also be the case for the Pilot game.

I'm still hoping the UP will do something to allow folks to come there and watch.

The webcast should be free. It's via CBS Sports All-Access. You will need to download/install the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in for your browser. (It's similar to what NBC used for the Olympics.)

I think tournament webcasts are under the control of the NCAA and are all free.

Re: Live Webcast of Friday's match
I watched both the Notre Dame and Stanford games last weekend on the CBS All-Access for free. Norte Dame had their own announcers who were really homers and not particularly soccer knowledgeable. Stanford had no play by play announcers, just someone who came on when there was a substitution, otherwise you just heard the sounds from the field and the crowd, it was a nice change after the ND announcers.

I wonder if UP is doing a webcast? They have in the past for playoff games like this...

Re: Live Webcast of Friday's match
A_Fan I had the same experience as you. Notre Dame announcers were so whiney and bad I was sick. It was a relief somewhat to be free of that for the Stanford game but as it went on I realized there was a guy sitting there with an open mic with absolutely nothing to say. I was astounded that someone couldn't have at least identified the players involved in the plays. It would have been nice.
At Portland we have Adam and Jason both of which are capable of calling a game. You would think Stanford would have similar people. Makes you appreciate them more. Not just for the soccer, these guys follow all sports. Man it must be great to have a wide variety of sports expertise.
No one has mentioned this but the James Madison broadcast had someone unfamiliar with the Pilots broadcasting the game. He was butchering Kassi's name every two minutes was having trouble with separating Sarah Jackman and Janelle Jacka. Then went on to prounouce Janelle's last name as Jay kuh. It was really weird at this point in the season.

Um... excuse me... aren't you forgetting the play-by-play guy that they occasionally call in from the bullpen?

Yeah sorry. I also forgot Angela Harrison who filled in for a sick Adam for the Texas game who did a really bang up job I thought. Funny her voice is raspy from all those years as a GK. I guess that stays with you.
