Re: Big Team Shakeup in Chile?
For Southern Cal a 5.6 temblor is not a catastrophe because they build here for earthquake safety. However that kind of quake can cause a lot of damage in countries with no building codes. I hope the damage is minimal.

I hope so too. Chillan was destroyed by a 8.3 quake in 1939.

Re: Big Team Shakeup in Chile?
Geez...watch those topic headlines! You scared the hell out of me! When I first read it...I literally thought the team had a "hope solo" moment!
Note: I've got to put a no "call out" clause to this one!

Re: Big Team Shakeup in Chile?
There will never be a Hope Solo moment on Tony's team. He was a GK himself and runs camps for them. Its a big confidence position and he knows how fragile mentally they can be.
I heard Kelsey is still mourning the two goals against in the JMU game and her team is proping her up.

Re: Big Team Shakeup in Chile?
It's not as close as I first thought. It turns out that according to the Lat-long coordinates, the epicenter is actually 44 miles NW of Chillan. I got the town confused with the region.

Re: Big Team Shakeup in Chile?
I just did some further checking. The u20's are scheduled to play their next game in Temuco on Wednesday against China. That's 177 miles south of the epicenter. If they are there already, they may not even have felt it.

Geez,
Quote from the Womens YNT Blog
Who's Shaking the Bed?
Well... we just had a very small earthquake here in Chillan that really just felt like someone was shaking our beds and chairs. For several of the players it was their first-ever Earthquake, but a handful of California girls are old pros.
We heard initial reports that said the 'quake was stronger in Coquimbo, another World Cup... we hope everyone and everything is en tact over there.
Sounds like all is well.
