Stanford won, but I didn't see anything from them the Pilots can't handle.

Very little play making by Stanford. They look like the Pilots did in early to Mid Season. Then again, it's hard to tell with the bunker defense that Rutgers used.

I don't know what to think about the Cardinal after this game. They can shoot. But their defense was never tested. It must be good to play in the Pac 10. I guess we will see.

The little bit I've seen of Stanford this year, they depend a lot on the counter and O'Hara's speed to outrun the defense. The midfield seems pretty good, and they have played some posession ball.

The defense seems pretty solid, IMO it's the best part of Stanford's game.

That was 1 ugly start to the 2nd half. I had to log off around 75th minute. Rutgetrs showed no offense whatsoever. No ball control, no possession. Stanford looked good in comparison. Stanford shot at Rutgers the way the Pilots do to most other teams. Stanford carried the run of play. Many of their shots were easy saves, though. If Pilots meet Cardinal, it will be quite a matchup and I am confident of a good result. To win it all Pilots have to meet and beat the best teams -- and Rutgers didn't make the cut.

Stanford appears to want next weekend's match on Friday night. Comcast is scheduled to broadcast the local professional basketball team that night, so it looks like no local TV. I guess we can hope that they have an Internet broadcast. It would be disappointing to have to settle for Gametracker!

Man, that would really suck if there is no TV. Hopefully the University will have a PC to TV converter and show it in an auditorium like last year.

I thought Stanford looked pretty good, given that Rutgers was totally bunkered in, not really even trying for quick counter-strikes. Seems like they were playing for a shoot-out, and there was no way they were going to get there giving up that many shots.

Stanford in the past has had audio broadcasts. I remember in 2002: "That Lauren Orlandos again ..." right before the player she was matching up with got carded.
