Former Pilot Sightings

Post by PilotDrummer on Mon Nov 17, 2008 11:18 am

Spotted Ruth Exley (Gilliam), Cori Alexander, and Stephanie Cox (Lopez) at the game yesterday. Got a chance to talk for a bit with Steph. I had the pleasure of living in the residence halls with her, her husband, and Cori. Sounds like she's doing well, getting ready for the league and going to LA.

Anyone spot anybody else? I'm sure Scifo, Sinc, and others were there (seen them at other games recently), but didn't see them.

Sinc wasn't there this weekend. But if you looked hard enough, you would have seen a lot of Pilots Way Past, from the early, middle and late 90's.

Which early '90s Pilots? Any recent Milbrett sightings? I though that I read she was up north playing club ball in Canada... Is that true?

I saw Tiff at the Pepperdine game. My nieces had a little UP soccer ball and she signed it! Smile

Sweet Stonehouse. I saw her at a concert several years ago.... She's so approachable...the building block of our program in my opinion.

No doubt about it.

I always think of Clive's interview after the 2002 championship win, when he makes a point to thank Tiff and say it was because she came to Portland "when it wasn't cool to come to Portland" was the reason why the program had reached the pinacle it did.

Tiff wasn't there either...she is no longer under contract with the Whitecaps. Scuttlebutt is she's hoping to get drafted into the WPS, along with a few other Pilot alums.

Michelle Voiland was there with some of her old teammates. She now coaches at Oregon State University with fellow Pilot Linus Rhode.

Cori was interviewed at halftime of friday's game for the online audio. She talked about her thoughts on moving to New Jersey (her brother lives close by, so she's excited about that), the player she's most excited to play with (Rampone), what's been going on at UP training (G's been giving them time to take care of injuries) and her big hobby of photography. Check out her website HERE. I know she's sold some of her stuff in the past, so if you see anything you like you can email her and she'll probably sell you a print.

You mentioned Cori's halftime interview with none other than Pilot great Angela Harrison (who provided both play by play and color for the audio broadcast). As a former goal keep her voice was nice and loud. They plugged Cori's photography site www.corialexander.com if you want to check her other passion.
