Re: UP-UW Game Day Thread
Yeaah Baby! Our team has the longest winning streak in the nation(except NIT and NCCA winners), until we play our next game.
Well the Pilots should be proud, and I think its great the students got to storm the court ,it was long overdue for the students. I think the whole atmosphere of the game and the end will help the players with their team confidence.
I know it's only one game, but we might as well celebrate a little...

The Chiles Center looked packed on the student section side. Hopefully, with a win like this they continue to come out and support Pilot Basketball and the excitement doesn't dwindle. There's nothing like playing in front of an energetic and enthusiastic crowd to give the players an extra surge of adrenaline. I would say that kind of student support certainly factored into the Portland win...it's easy to play hard and have confidence with that many people cheering you on.

Wooo - HOOO!
great win! this makes up for the McCullogh era loss to them.
The best part for me was the hustle and good defense. Several guys were awesome!
And it looks like we finallyhave enough depth that we'll be able to hang with folks to the end in the tough ones.
I talked to Jim Shaw before the game. He said "I hear you guys are better" I said - "yeah I think we might surpise some folks this year."
Dr C would be proud...

Re: UP-UW Game Day Thread
Can I say how fun it was to turn and smile at the s*** talking, whining UW fans after the buzzer sounded??? I will say they did exit in an orderly fashion, apparently Seattle crowd control has improved since the WTO riots.... but I digress. Good total team game, "Needles" was a straight up assassin, "Cosmo" and "Double Dutch" made Brockman work for his points, and "Mmm Mmm" held his own against a very quick UW backcourt... And need we forget "3 Cheese" Raivo"li"s clutch free throws and utter assault on the lane??
Nothing was better than seeing the entralled "Steam Boat" jumping up and down in a crowd of UP students... Awesome game.
P.S. Venoy "I wish I was named after Benoit Benjamin" Overton filled Adam Morrison's void of college player I most love to hate.... Seriously, the kid make's Mark Few's whining seem dignified, his composure was a big reason why the dawgs lost that game. Thanks Venoy, come back soon!!

Re: UP-UW Game Day Thread
When the FTs started I went over to the end of the band section and started asking, "Where are you going? The game is not over! Support your team!" I don't think they liked that. Not that I care...
I thought the big men did a great job against Brockman at both ends. Knutson and Smeulders both hit some nice shots over him. As for this Thomas fellow I keep hearing about, I didn't notice anyone that stellar. Their #2 had some good moments, but there were times you could tell he was a freshman, so that couldn't have been Isaiah Thomas.
The last time I have seen our students rush the floor was when Kasey Flicker hit a 3 at the buzzer to beat USF in 96 (I think it was).
Oh, Annnngeloooo......paying attention to the Pilots now?

That was '94 or '95... I may or may not have been a part of said floor rushing after Flicker's *2* huge 3's at the end of that game...
Great W tonight!

Re: UP-UW Game Day Thread
I just remembered there were a few ruffians who ran onto the court after the Coky/Quick-era Pilots beat the Ducks at home. But that was just a small group.
The attendance given for last night was only 2617. I thought it would be higher, but it was a loud 2617.

Early in the season.... Hopefully this win gives fans a reason to turn out and the students get a bit more organized. This is definitely a fun team to watch, definitely worth the price of admission!

Bring on the Bandwagon, the Pilots need that "home crowd" feel. Especially when that one school shows up for a whuppin.
It was so embarassing to watch the BYU game at the Chiles Center last year. Even through the beautiful view that my computer gives me courtesy of Stretchnet(Yeah right) I thought we playing in Provo.
Go Pilots, beat those Vikings!

Yep, felt like a Gonzaga game. The day we bring more supporters than the Zags may return sooner than we think.
I like Rev's quote on the Pilots site: "We're not there yet. We're so not there yet."

Larry Williams had the same statement to us as we walked out, after high fives and congratulating him he said, "Its a good step, but we've got a long way to go" Gotta love the workman like attitude!!
