Our man Graham Hays at ESPN.com does it again. Great story about Kelsey Davis and the Ronald McDonald House:

Read it! Now! What are you waiting for? Smile

Also... notice his dateline. Portland, Oregon. Smile

Wonder if he worked on that article earlier (most likely), or if he's going to be in PDX this weekend. Would be sweet if he's in town... I love getting coverage on ESPN!

Can I nominate Graham Hayes for the Pilot Nation HOF???

(Even if his research on the origination of the Villa Drum Squad was a bit shoddy rimshot )

I'm really impressed with the articles I've read by Graham Hayes. This article and the articles he wrote previewing the upcoming tournament were all well researched and written. I wonder if he really is a women's soccer geek (and that's a complement!) or if he is just a darn good sports writer.

Poopdeck - Hays has the "non-revenue sports women's NCAA" beat (softball, women's soccer, women's field hockey, etc.) which probably would be considered a dead-end by some writers.

But Hays really embraces it and does a great job of finding the good stories and doing the research to write well-informed and insightful articles. Basically, he's just really good at his job.

I usually do every time he writes something about the Pilots, but you all should consider sending him an email and thanking him for his good work:

Graham.Hays@espn3.com

Who knows... maybe we can get him to do a story about the rabid Pilot fanbase on Pilot Nation. Smile

Stonehouse,

I took the bait and shot him an email, and plugged Pilot Nation.

So as I mentiond before I shot Graham an email regarding his work on NCAA Women's soccer and more specifically his Pilot coverage, I even plugged pilot nation and UPSF's work on decoding the RPI, wanted to share the response I received tonight. His response bolded.

Andrew – I’ve been behind on e-mail all weekend, so I apologize for a tardy response. Thanks very much for the kind words about our soccer coverage. I’ve always appreciated the passion the fans in Portland have for the Pilots and the respect for what Clive Charles accomplished and Garrett Smith continues to build. It’s a wonderful environment for the sport. And I appreciate you passing along the link. If anyone can make sense of the RPI, they’re a better man or woman than me, so I look forward to checking it out. Enjoy the postseason.

Sincerely,
Graham Hays

Here's a question for you: If the funding for renovation is coming from donations such as those solicited by the Pilots, why is it called Ronald McDonald House? Wouldn't you think that the megaburger empire should be paying the bills if the place is named after their clown?

If you donate $60 million you can have it renamed the Soreknees House......
