seriously, high school teachers all across our great nation effectively administer multiple choice exams, I am sure the companies that develop these electronic polling stations earn better wages....
No conspiracy theory here....just disappointing...

ATM's dont randomly give you $20 when you push the button for $40... nor can anyone from the bank easily go in and change the amount of that withdrawl in your account afterward... checks and balances....
Come on, seriously. Heck, even the Pilot Nation polls dont mess up...

Oh, even the banks have done it. I was once credited with $10,000 in an account that wasn't my money. I pointed it out to the bank and was almost scolded for wasting their time.
A year later they caught their mistake and asked for the money back. ( I had thought of closing the account to make 'em sweat a bit).

In California you can request a mail in ballot or choose to go to the polls and use the punch out machines that can be read by computer. For some reason ...ahem..Je...ahem .....bu... Florida state has inexplicable hanging chad problems. I just hope no matter who wins we get some true patriots elected and not the usual win at all costs candidates we see more and more. And by patriot I don't mean someone who wraps themselves in the flag in the daylight and plots dirty tricks and smears at night.
Pick up a copy of the Lincoln Douglas debates and read about how a presidential election was run in the old days. I was there and they were just dandy.

Re: Election Day - 11/4/2008
Here in Tennessee we have early voting that goes on for a couple weeks, I think. I didn't really pay close attention to how it works. I don't actually know how to go to the polling station either. I guess I am spoiled by Oregon's voting system. I voted several weeks ago on an absentee ballot, I kind of had to, I wasn't sure where I would be living on election day.
I don't know that I will ever go to a polling station, it is so much easier to just get a ballot in the mail, fill it out and mail it back.
One thing that will be weird to me is that I think this year will be the first time I will go to bed before the new President is named.

Well, the networks have all just called it for Obama. It will still be interesting to follow some of the races in Oregon though.

Here's what I think is the most amazing thing about this election.
Where did I put my tri-corder?

Haha between the hologram reporters, the virtual capital and that magical touch screen map CNN clearly clearly must use George Lucas and Peter Jackson for all of their wild CGI tricks.... Now if somehow they can make Wolf Blitzer disappear off the face of the earth I will be truly impressed...

Re: Election Day - 11/4/2008
When I saw Wolf talking to the holygram (Jessica Yellin), I truly couldn't believe it. I thought it might be a joke. But Wolf doesn't joke a whole lot, and certainly not on this crucial evening.
My mind is boggled by what I saw. She was really in the room with Wolf, albeit virtually, and she obviously could see and hear Wolf. It was the clearest holygram I've ever seen and I simply still cannot believe what I saw...
There were other incredible technological effects on the different channels covering the event, but that holygram???????? It appeared to me that many election news sets had been developed both physically and virtually to bring us brand new hi-tech effects that proved anew we are living in a futuristic world.
One where a minority person could become the nation's 44th President, after the first 43 were Caucasian.

It was not a hologram. None of those "appearing" by hologram were visible in-studio.

haha, Rob's Jacket. It would have been great if it was Worf! To be honest, my first thought when I saw it was Princess Leah in I believe the original Star Wars from 1977.
(BTW - whenever I say "haha", I'm aping DaTruRochin. That is definitely his calling card.)

NOT burned, Rochin.
It is a compliment to you that I would use your unique opening. I wouldn't copy someone else if I didn't like and appreciate the use of the word(s).
Peace and love, always, my good friend!
