Re: Lute Olsen Leaves Arizona... Mike Moser Comes to UP?
Whoever wrote that article apparently hasn't read the Pac10 conference transfer rules. If he transfers to another school in the conference he'd essentially lose 2 years, that's even if he is granted a release by UCLA.
So the idea that he might transfer to a WCC school isn't so far fetched. Why not us?

No place for him this year. Can he self-fund a sit-out year and get a scholarship next year?

Here's the PAC10 rules.

As I understand it, the NCAA rule also applies if he's not granted a full release. and the years are consecutive, not concurrent.
With Porter and Hegarty's slots available, don't we still have 1 more slot?
If you intend to transfer to a Pac-10 school and have previously attended or
participated in practice at another Pac-10 school you may be subject to the
Pac-10 Intra-Conference Transfer Rule. This rule’s penalty requires that you
fulfill one academic year of residence and lose one season of competition
before being eligible to compete. You also may not receive athletically related
financial aid during this period of ineligibility.
Depending upon whether or not you were recruited or received aid at the first Pac-10 school,
you may be exempt from the rule and its penalties. You are exempt from the application of
the rule if, at the first Pac-10 school, you were:
• Not recruited and did not receive athletics aid
• Not recruited and received institutional aid only
• Recruited but received no athletics or institutional aid
If you are not exempt, once you have either been admitted to, enrolled in, or practiced at
your second Pac-10 school the faculty representative can apply on your behalf for a reduction
of the rule’s penalty, including elimination of the ban on athletically related financial aid. A
reduction must be approved by at least eight of the Pac-10’s faculty representatives.

Five graduates plus two transfers. Four freshmen LOI's, two freshmen commits, and one JC transfer commit. I don't see an open spot.
