Chet Thompson Verbals to UP

Gig Harbor High School senior all-purpose athlete Chet Thompson has verbally agreed to play baseball for the University of Portland.

Thompson, who is the Tides’ starting center fielder and quarterback in football, said he should receive a National Letter of Intent early next month. He’s also received letters from Hawaii, Whitworth of Spokane and Utah.

“About a week ago, I checked out the campus, and I just really conncted with the coach and the daily life,” Thompson said. “It’s a perfect fit for me.”
