Whoa Pilot Nation!

Post by Stonehouse on Sun Sep 28, 2008 1:39 pm

Wow... we had nearly 50 people on this site, at 10 in the morning, talking about our women's soccer match. Absolutely incredible. Wish I could have been here to join in the fun!

48 people online at 10:06am this morning - smashing the old record of, I believe, 26, set about Nov 12 last year during the NCAA playoff bracket announcement on national TV

I never dreamed we would almost double that on a Sunday morning in September...take a bow, Pilot Nation. Bow

We may pull a muscle patting ourselves on the back. So be it. As my affection for UP soccer grows into "obsession" (my wife and daughters' term), this is my Obsession Central.

I'm 100% with you, purple haze.

My family chooses to ignore everything Pilots. They not only won't go to games with me, whenever I talk about the team, there is no response at all 90% of the time.

So I just keep my "obsession" to meself! I'm old!

Exclamation The official tally for number of posts in September: 1,515! The previous high in November 2007 was 1,082! We obliterated the record!

Way to go, and keep it up!!!!

It's still October 1 and this is post #70 for the month. Let's see, at that rate it would make 2,170 for the 31 days of the month. We can do it!

Maybe it's the official tally, but at midnight last night I checked the website and there were 8 posts credited to October, though none had been made.

That would make the unofficial total 1523, thereby meeting Stoney's dream of a prime number Very Happy (this is true)

But then there's the famous lost day, so there is no telling the real number.....

Re: Whoa Pilot Nation!

Geezer, I thought it was discussed earlier, (tho not officially), that the clock on the stats is way off. I thought we figured at about noon on August 31, Sept posts started. The balancing point being, August 1st begin at noon on July 31st.

So if that's all true, and I'm not sure "noon" was determined to be the exact time, (no one figured it all out for sure), then at midnight on Sept 30 there would be October posts already begun.

I agree, the "lost day", mangles things up a bit...

Bottom line, I think we can all agree, we smashed the record. And we're going to do the same in Oct and Nov!!!!!!!!!

PilotNut, SciFi, Rob's Jacket - and anyone else - please comment on this if you have a thought, idea or psychic explanation.

Truth be told - Were you abducted Geezer? That would account for several hundred missing posts...

Don't tell me the aliens read Pilot Nation???? Wow! And I was worried about opponents reading PN. (BTW - if you are an opponent trying to glean Pilot info, good luck here! We're just a bunch of wannabe's who Garrett laughs off like when he reads the comics!!!) Twisted Evil

Haha I'm pretty sure Pilot Nut mentioned it had something to do with the server location being the clock location.... So wherever the server happens to be is the "official" time of Pilot Nation....

Right, Rochin. My memory often needs a little nudge before it kicks in.

So, big shots. (That means you too, Stonehouse!) Any idea where the server is located at?

I realize this could be a "who cares" kind of question. If so, let's get out of this thread and on to something with a little more 'sizzle'. (Isn't 'sizzle' a cool word or what? Wait - don't answer that. It will bring you down to my 4th grade level. Sorry for the insult, 4th graders!)

Well, since the server switches to a new day before it hits midnight here, it's safe to assume it's probably in Central or Eastern time zones.

I confess... It was me. I just wanted everyone's post number to go down to make me feel like less of a slacker. But if you still want to credit my dirty work to the aliens I'll take it. alien

Geez, thanks for making it easier for us to try and understand you. We have all PM'd each other repeatedly for several months now trying to figure you out. An encyclopedic mind. Along with short ridiculous answers to the most basic questions. And your insistence that you live in a retirement community where a big nurse chases you around with a hypodermic needle filled with who knows what.

Alien abduction. I have always been a skeptic. But somehow it's the only way to begin to understand you... Twisted Evil
