No. 21 Huskies Return Home For Two Non-Conference Contests
9/23/2008
The 22nd-ranked Husky women's soccer team returns home this weekend after a four-game road swing to face Utah on Friday and Hawai'i on Sunday, their final two non-conference home games before kicking off Pac-10 play.

Hm... I wonder what they are doing the third?

Wishful thinking? Or, maybe they played a game against a Canadian team that they thought wouldn't count against their NCAA-allowed number of games.

Come on guys, give them a break! The poor Huskies just lost on the road 3-0 to Illinois after starting the season 7-0. Talk about your rude awakenings!

If you were the Huskies right now, would you like to go to bed at night thinking about two home games coming up before the start of conference play, or would you like to go to bed obsessing about playing the Pilot Machine AT Merlo before starting conference play?

Let them sleep well. It will have no affect on our match against them.

The Husky women have a brutal schedule during the first three weekends in October:
-10/03 at Portland
-10/10 at USC
-10/12 at UCLA
-10/17 Stanford
-10/19 California
Given the RPI discussion thread, I'd think that their RPI could go up even if they lost all these games.

With the Pac-10 being so deep, you really can't blame them for going on a steady diet of pre-season cupcakes... But geez haha those first 3 road games... Not a gauntlet anyone would want to face... Well, anyone but the Pilots that is Party!!!

But, credit to UW, they did beat Purdue @ Purdue last weekend. And the stats for Illinois were much closer than the 3-0 score.

Kinda funny-- Their weekend report makes no mention again that they are going to play the Pilots this weekend, instead skipping ahead to their next Home games.

I wonder if they'll show up?

Maybe they are in denial; kinda like if we don't acknowledge the match, then perhaps it won't happen at all.

Or, maybe they're being realistic, thinking of the game as an experiment as a way to improve, knowing they have chance zero for a W.

Hmmm...I can't think of a third reason why a big time Pac-10 team's athletic site would skip a game entirely in previewing the next games coming up. scratch

I looked at the UW site again, and this phrase is now in the middle of the article.

The Huskies now head into a difficult stretch of games, starting with their final non-conference battle next Friday, Oct. 4, at No. 4 Portland. UW's next four opponents are all in the top five nationally and their next five are against schools in the top 25.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't there before. I'm going to have to start archiving versions.

Difficult stretch is putting it mildly. It'll be like standing in the middle of the freeway.

Geez,
I read that article and i can confirm it was not there before. Seems we have become defacto fact checkers keeping the non-neutral journalist honest. I am comfortable posting knowing that if I misstate a fact you and the rest of the Pilot Nation brain trust will catch it immediately.

FAN,

Since I missed my 100th post. Hooray for me I hit 200. Subtract mindless ramblings, rants, fluffo, mistatements and hallucinations, it is probably more like 10 or 12 but I am shameless, I'll take it.

201 is "almost" a prime number. It is divisible by 1 and itself, but also by 3 & 67, hence it is not a prime number. But that is from a nerdy analyst's point of view. I assume you meant it as a great or grand or worthy number.

Yeah, it was late...

What I really meant is that it is a centered icosagonal number

201 x 627 = 126027 ( the product has the same digits as its factors)

201n +2 are prime where n= 14,15, 16

And it's a KAPREKAR constant, base 4

199 is the closest prime... Very Happy

Hoorah for 'Auto Pilot' passing 200! That's gotta be a record for quickest member to 200. (Unless Geezer or Stonehouse beat it.)

At this rate, I'll be looking up at you by Christmas!

Honestly, that was off the top of my head. (However, there's always the possibility I ripped it off subconsciously from a movie. Or, I've heard many variations of that in film and TV, and just came up with a similar line of something vaguely familiar.)

Nah, if it had been one of those forums, I would have waited until 223 and pointed out that:

it's prime

=71 + 73 + 79 (Sum of consecutive primes)
and
=19 + 23 + 29 + 31 + 37 + 41 + 43 ( again , the sum of consecutive primes)

You'll be at a prime at 733, BTW

Oh snap! I didn't even realize what my post count was... I think this must mean something, Geezer. And you know what I think it means? I think it means Pilot domination. I mean... what else could it be, right?

By the way... Pilot Nation definitely has passed 1500 for this month. Now, if we could end up with a prime as our total post count for September (1543 maybe?), now THAT would be something.

At FANatics request the we get back on topic, I offer this (apologies to mathematician Charles Dodgson, aka Lewis Caroll)

How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of denial
On every golden scale!
How cheerfully he seems to grin,
How neatly spreads his claws,
And welcomes little Huskies in,
With gently smiling jaws!
