Impressive National Stats for Pilots...

Saw this in the latest press release:

UP is #2 nationally in scoring (3.75)
UP is #4 in goals against average (0.248)
UP is #3 in shutouts

Individually, Foxhoven is tied for third in most total goals, seventh in goals-per-game, and 12th in points-per-game. (Enyeart is 28th.) Kelsey Davis is 5th in goals-against average.

Cool, Thanks Stoney. Did you notice that Portland is in the top ten in all defensive catagories along with Notre Dame, UCLA and Stanford.

I noticed on the same press release that the Penn State game will have video coverage. Unfortunately it's not free, it's via the Penn State video package which costs $9.95 for a month of coverage. Cheaper than a plane ticket if you want to sign up and watch the game.

As much as I love the fact that we're #2 in scoring at 3.75 goals per game, DEFENSE will always be the backbone of a great soccer program. We're in the top ten in ALL defensive catagories!!!

When the "three amigas" leave us at playoff time, they really are irreplaceable. However, others must and will step up, and the first place Garrett will look is at the defense. That MUST remain a brick wall. If it does, with the scorers we have in Danielle, Megan R., and others, we can and will march toward the College Cup!

(That's my pep talk for the week!)

I'm heartened because I don't see any players on ranked team with Danielle's scoring stats. Note of the players aread of her are playing for ranked teams playing tough schedules.

That almost makes her the default #1.

As long as she continues to help us win, that really is the only stat that matters. That big W!

Although it is way more exciting to see goals scored. Come playoff time when the goals seem hard to come by, its always the team that has the great defensive run ends up on top. So I am really really excited.
