New Rev Report Podcast
Looks like the new website will have some cool features, including a regular podcast page:
http://www.portlandpilots.com/podcasts.aspx
Coach Rev talks about what went on this summer, the new players, what we can expect heading into the season, etc. Lots of good info... maybe the most exciting news is that Hannibal has slimmed down to 265 and is looking GOOD. Also said that Stohl has bulked up some. (Side note: I heard that Stohl has been unconscious from beyond the arc this summer and just doesn't miss open shots.)
But the highlight was definitely Rev's wise words about recruiting... "Recruiting is like shaving. If you don't do it every day you end up looking like a bum." Ha ha!
Also said he has had some local kids and their parents coming onto campus... definitely love hearing that!

Re: New Rev Report Podcast
Stonehouse,
The strength and conditioning coach must be doing great. I heard the big men are doing "Power" lifting, they must have Hanibal on a strick diet. Heard Knutson's at 245 lbs (That will help against Byrant,Pomaire, and Samham). I wonder how Robin and Sikma came through the summer? Any news on the frosh 7'1", do they have him on some sort of regime too?
Is it November yet. Can't wait for the season to start. Things look more positive than last year even though the pundits all say no change in skill, just one more yr's experience. I hope the Pilot's can prove them wrong and get around .500% overall this year. The WCC is too dicey to predict after Gonzaga, St.Mary's,and San Diego.

A new one was just posted yesterday... I'm listening to it right now!

Looks like there was one with coach Sobotka from last week that I missed as well:

I am having trouble with both the Sobotka podcast of 8/28 and the Reveno one of 9/4.
All of the rest have come in loud and clear. The two above however state "buffering" starting at 1% and going to 100% I assume. This would take an hour.
What would yousuggest to solve this problem"
?

Re: New Rev Report Podcast
What speed is your connection, sailor? Are you using high-speed or cable?
I've noticed that sometimes they take a bit to launch, but then they do fine. I've never had a sign come up to say buffering. Hmmm... are you listening to it in Quicktime? Or are you using a browser other than IE?

Re: New Rev Report Podcast
Upsailor,
I am on DSL, and the 9-4-08 broadcast was weak on volume for me too. I like the podcast because you can hear from the coaching staff personally instead of just speculating or posting to receive information.
I know this is probably asking too much, however, if the last couple of minutes would be used for fans to E- mail a couple of questions they have for the Coach, it would be neat. I think next month the PILOTS will be too far into the season to ask questions because the coach will be too busy with practice, etc, etc.
Just a thought. I 've been in Big-Ten, and Pac-Ten radio areas and they have tried something similar. BUT, I AM JUST SO GLAD TO HEAR THE PODCAST, so I'll just shut up and enjoy.
I believe Stoney has many correct ideas about the broadcasts.

What are your questions. Give we'll see what we can do in getting them answered from Rev himself and his staff.

Re: New Rev Report Podcast
Hey folks... a new one just got posted up... this time a two-parter!
http://www.portlandpilots.com/podcasts.aspx
He talks a lot about recruiting (love to hear about their focus on NW kids, and I suppose it's an advantage in a way that they don't have to worry about recruiting seniors and can invest a lot of time with the juniors instead). Also talks about pre-official practice workouts and mentions the whole team can get together for the first time this Monday.
And it looks like our man purplepride13 was successful in getting a question answered... sounds like they want to make that a weekly feature, so send in questions you might have to Jason Brough at brough@up.edu
Lots of good tidbits!

Re: New Rev Report Podcast
BUMP
New one posted this weekend... Rev talks about the first full-squad hour long practices and starts to break down some of the position stuff too.
A few tidbits:
* Jasonn is in great shape. Coach said that this fall is the first time he's seen him play without "lagging behind" at all. Awesome news and a testiment to the amount of work Jasonn has put in over the last year.
* Luke has a hurt knee and is shut down for the time being. It sounded like they caught whatever it is in time and it's not going to prevent him from playing (yet), but still not encouraging news.
* BJ is recovering from his surgery for a sports hernia.
* Hegarty has already started to lose weight. Keep it up big fella!
There's more good stuff, but you should just go ahead and listen:

I've enjoyed the pod casts, however, I do wish Rev would speak up. His voice fades quite often. Hopefully, the emcee will put the microphone closer to coach.

I found it interesting that Coach has some of the same questions about his line-up that we ask; go big, or go small? Can't wait to see how this season develops.
