Here it is!!!

PORTLAND, Ore. – Prep school point guard Eric Waterford has accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Portland and will join the Pilots as an incoming freshman this fall, head coach Eric Reveno announced on Friday. Waterford (6-0, 175) graduated in 2007 from Modesto Christian High School (Modesto, Calif.) before playing last year at St. Thomas More School (Oakdale, Conn.) in the same league as recently signed Pilot, John Hegarty.

"We are very excited about the addition of Eric to our basketball team,” Reveno said. “He is a versatile guard who has the ability to both create for himself and make others better. For an incoming freshman, he also has a maturity both on and off the floor that will be an asset to our program. "

Waterford helped St. Thomas More to a 13-9 record during the 2007-08 season while earning the team’s Most Improved Player award. His squad advanced to the 2008 National Prep School Championships as the No. 8 seed, but lost to top-seed and eventual champion Hargrave Military Academy in the first round.

As a senior at Modesto Christian, Waterford was named the Most Valuable Player of the Trans Valley League. He averaged 14.7 points, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line. Waterford was named to the all-tournament team of the Modesto Christian Holiday Hoops Classic, which featured 16 of the top programs from the state of California. His play as a senior also put him in the Six Counties All-Star Game.

Prior to his time at Modesto Christian, Waterford played one year of varsity basketball at Grace Davis High School in Modesto, Calif.

Waterford is the final piece of Portland’s 2008 recruiting class, which also includes Hegarty, junior college All-American point guard T.J. Campbell, and freshman guard Nemanja Mitrovic.
