Yes. Oh yes. Absolutely.
The biggest match in Portland this year, without a doubt.

I'll definitely be there. I don't care that it's not a league match . . . this is Sh*ttle. I'd love to see 15K+ fill up the Park.

Haha it will be interesting who Seattle even fields.... Methinks the Portland fans are going to care about this game WAY more than anyone up north...

It will probably be similar to the other US Open Cup matches, meaning LeToux and Levesque could get starts among others... That's good for the rivalry anyway.

Of course we are. We thought we'd have to wait til 2011 to see Seattle again...
I mean really, beyond the Vancouver matches, how can you get really excited for the likes of the Carolina RailHawks and Cleveland City Stars?

I'll be sitting midfield, attempting to pickle my liver.

I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you'd say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because if the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...."

See you there. I'll be in the frenzy of the Fighting 106. PGE box office says there are only ~800 seats left. Looks like we'll get that sellout.

Where is this 106? Is it near 107 where the Timbers' biggest supporters stand?
A little something to get you ready:

When the 80th minute comes around, you know what to do:

Re: July 1st US Open Cup matchup: Timbers vs. Sounders FC...
We packed 16K+ into PGE tonight. I wish the result could have gone our way, but like the Gonzaga basketball game, I knew deep down it would take a monumental effort for the boys to win. What I saw was a Seattle team that was great at keeping possession and limiting the really high quality chances for the Timbers. This was an MLS side, after all, and a pretty good one.
Now then: it's late and I need to get to bed, but I also feel I need to say this. I may only be in my first year following the Timbers, but you all know I am TA so this is why I have to make my opinion clear:
If you threw things at the pitch, you are not real TA.
I hope at least a few of the people who threw the bottles, cups, and smoke bombs were caught, removed, and banned for a long, long time. I can't describe to you how disgusted I was to see that behavior out of a few "fans." In my opinion that is the one thing we just cannot do as supporters. As I tried to explain to the half-wit in front of me, I don't care how long you've been coming to games. I don't care that nothing happens behind the goal. I don't care that the cup you threw only made it into the dugout and nowhere near the field. It. Can't. Happen.
This game was on TV. The stadium was packed Portland and the Timbers Army were on display before their largest ever audience tonight. I can only say that is not something the Timbers Army as a whole condones and I hope no one gets that impression.
Drummer, I hope you had a good time despite the craziness that went on tonight.

Re: July 1st US Open Cup matchup: Timbers vs. Sounders FC...
Yeah... It's unfortunate when a few drunken morons ruin everyone else's good wholesome fun, and as sophomoric Nyassi's gamesmanship may have been, you have things thrown at you it's kind of the standard tactic.
All in all it was a pretty entertaining game to watch (but I must say after watching a ton of games on turf, the PGE field plays REALLY fast, but that could have been the camera location/non-HDness playing tricks with my mind), clearly there was a talent gap between the two sides, but the Timbers definitely held their own. (Even if our top 4 midfielders and best central defender weren't even playing
)
I think the rivalry will definitely be fun to watch in 2 years, and hopefully sometime next year we can have some sort of exhibition actually open to the public, 2 years is too long to wait...

Ouch, baby. Ouch.
Magnificent game though. You couldn't ask for a better crowd (well, maybe fewer Flounder customers wearing their rave green). The TA responded just like you'd hope to a first minute goal. That would crush fans in other stadia. We just kept on singing loud and proud. Too bad we couldn't put in an equalizer.

Ha well, we ended up in 106 too. Just a little North End fun. The talk on the interwebs is Portland really showed what kind of a soccer town it is. Fans who watched across the nation were very impressed with the atmosphere.
Add another 9300 who showed up for the Bayern Reserves the next night and I would say there's plenty of interest in soccer here.
WGWTL. Bring on 2011.
