One of the smaller articles talks about BYU and how it might be a fit with the West Coast Conference. It's an extreme longshot, but something fun to consider.

It just seems like they concentrate too much on academics (not that that is a bad thing, It's great!) But I just don't understand. Stanford, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Duke are all competitive in some sports. Is the reason because Santa Clara is too small. Is it because they don't have that kind of money. If so, should we kick them out of the WCC, they seem to be in the cellar for most sports.

On Saturday, in addition to our result, Pepperdine (4-12 per-conference) beat LMU (9-7 pre-conference).

On Sunday, SMC beat Santa Clara, and USF beat USD!

So, SMC is off to a 2-0 start, while Santa Clara is 0-2. LMU lost one I'm sure they'd figured as a win, but it was a road loss. And USD was stung to lose decisively (16 points) at USF, a road loss they didn't expect.

This reinforces a couple things we have mentioned on other posts. ...

Redshirt sophomore foward-center has decided to transfer from Gonzaga. Isn't Poling originally from Portland, too bad it would be an WCC transfer and he has already used up one of his 5 yr elgibility years red-shirting in Spunkane.

Poling showed much promise about 3-4 years ago(one of Top posts in the West) until he developed those underweight/health problems. Good luck wherever he ends up, he has alot of offensive potential. Oh, man could you imagine what Rev could have done with a talent ...

Watched part of the Zag game in Maui, where they beat Wisconsin tonight by 13. What struck me was that there seemed to be a fairly large contingent of Mesa's favorite fans in attendance. Do you think that many people paid the $'s to travel to Hawaii for the tournament? I have to think GU couldn't have that many local alums in the Islands.

Much as they annoy us, that level of fan support is very impressive.

Pargo, Mills award finalists

Jeremy Pargo and Patty Mills were named finalists for the Bob Cousy award presented by The Hartford. This is an award for the top collegiate point guard.

I'm thinking with his injury Mills is pretty much out of it now. Pretty impressive though for the WCC to get two finalists for this award. My guess is Stephen Curry will win the award, but is he really a point guard?

Things are getting interesting in the conference. Santa Clara took down SMC tonight, and after beating USD in OT last Thursday is now 5-4. USD is also 5-4, while SMC drops to 6-3, with GU up next. We need to take care of business against USF (1 win) on Thursday. That could give us a two game lead for second place going into Saturdays rematch with SMC. With five teams currently having winning conference records it looks like the battle for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place is going to be tough, with one ...

Hello Pilot Fans,

I know it seems like a long time in the future and I look foward to a improved WCC season but I would recomend a cheap flight and tons of fun at the tourney. I guess according to the WCC site and the Commish (Wasn't it nice to hear Jason interview him at half-time last night, despite the result's of the game ),there are only 500 tickets left at the Orleans arena. It would be great if some of you die-hard Pilot Nation supporters could get the time off of work and give the ...
