Ugh... Tough Loss Today
10-1 to New Mexico State. Jeesh... 16-0 to OSU, 18-1 to Utah, and now 10-1 to New Mexico State. Outscored a combined 44-2 in those three games, but a 12-3 record in all others.
What gives?
What gives?

I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you'd say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because if the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...."

Re: Ugh... Tough Loss Today
The recap is now up:
http://www.portlandpilots.com/sports/baseball/release.asp?release_id=4874
Gruener started and seemingly pitched well (he went seven innings, struck out 8 and allowed nine hits)... but two errors that lead to five unearned runs will kill any pitcher. They scored all seven runs off Gruener in the third inning... could have escaped the inning with only allowing two. Rats.
Seems like defense has been a bit of a weakness thus far. I suppose that's to be expected with several new infield players, but still... got to shape that up if we want to keep up in the WCC.
