Rose City Invitational
Tickets are on sale tomorrow (Feb. 6) at Ticketmaster and the Pilot box office. Portland, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii are playing downtown March 20-22. As long as we get some good weather, this should be pretty sweet.

Bump
So it's cloudy and it might rain, but there's a roof over the seats. Pilots play Hawaii at 3:30 and Oregon at 7 tonight.

Re: Rose City Invitational
Write up from the Oregonian, of course covering it from UO's perspective. What a great win for the Pilots!

Re: Rose City Invitational
The comments are more interesting than the Jeff Smith stuff. Try and remember these guys went to college, presumably.
I watched the duck game on TV. The TV announcers never noticed that the ducks couldn't get a hit on Pilot pitching. They just kept raving about the losing pitchers strikeouts. I finally stopped watching and turned on the Pilot audio broadcast.
Ducks now 8-10 -- Pilots 13-7

I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you'd say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because if the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...."

I really like tierhog's response to joefatone's post. Duck fans make for some great entertainment.
As far as the actual article goes, my favorite sentence is this one, "The Pilots, who are playing host to the event, stole the show on the opening day of the eight-game, four-team tournament."
So the Pilots stole the show which actually was theirs to begin with?

Um, Kilkenny is not a...what one guy called him. I love the logic being used: Someone comes on to say, "guys, maybe that last comment was out of line." The next reply is basically, "Hey, we were just defending the Ducks from a couple flamers, so shut the eff up."
Yes, the Duck pitcher was getting Ks, but Burris put together a fine outing.

Re: Rose City Invitational
Wow, I just re-read that article, well actually just the comments, and I must say, I LOVE Duck fans. Apparently they are the "flame" police, and they never "flame" on anyone else, but they defend their own. AWESOME!
Purplegeezer, are you Supergeezer, or is there a fleet of Geezers patrolling the internet, preaching maturity, grammar, and the utmost amount of knowledge in chatrooms/comment boards (yes, I am just kissing a$$ to try to get in the 1,000 post club early).
But seriously, is there anything more entertaining than reading people's comments/posts online? I mean, I barely passed college writing (thanks John Orr) but seriously, what happened to grammar? Do people think the more red squigglies under their post the better?

It's even better when you sit through a cold night to watch it.
The Ducks are holding the last two games of their series with OSU next weekend in Portland. There have already been about 10,000 seats sold for each game.

Impressive... Is the beer garden open? cuz that seems like a necessity to make it through this first season of Duck baseball...

Yeah, it is kind of a new oddity for Duck fans.... Although haha I don't envy that their automatic in-state rival has won 2 national titles the in last few years, but you gotta start somewhere...

The maturity of commenters on most news sites is astounding! I just loved reading the MLS stories on O Live
