Pilots 7 LMU 3

Post by Purplegeezer on Sun Apr 05, 2009 4:28 pm

After dropping two blowouts this weekend to the red hot Lions, the Pilots got a run in the 10th and 4 runs in the 11th to drop LMU and salvage something out of the weekend. Great Job.

Kyle Kraus again pitched a great outing for 8 innings. Zack Varce got the win in relief.

The LMU audio fed was pretty good until the bottom of the 11th, when it took me a while to figure out the 'tween inning break was a lot longer than Normal. When I looked up, the Gametracker had the final score up.

Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you'd say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because if the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...."

Did Gametracker put up a "WW" like Phil Rizzuto used to do on his scorecard?

(="wasn't watching") Very Happy

That's one of my major beefs with Gametracker and some college web announcing.

You can often tell if the home team lost because the PBP just stops. Sometimes the final score doesn't go up for hours after the game. It happened a couple of times last fall during the soccer season as well.

If you are such a homer that you can't relate the gory details of a home loss, maybe you aren't cut out to be in the media business. , and maybe you shouldn't pretend that you are going give fans a way to follow your team.

Maybe if they don't have the cojones to struggle all the way through a loss, they could at least put a WWW on the gametracker window (We Was Whupped).

Nice win. All things considered, I don't think a 2-4 start in the WCC (with all six games on the road) is all that bad, especially after last year's 3-18 debacle. I've been following Kyle Kraus for a couple of years now, since I live in West Linn. Definitely a recruiting coup for Sperry & Co. The kid can pitch.
